[Closed] Celebrate 5 years of the Supreme Court’s Right to Privacy Judgement with Internet Freedom Foundation (Aug 27th, 2022 | Bengaluru)

Event Title: Privacy Supreme by Internet Freedom Foundation

Event Date: Sat, Aug 27, 2022 at 5:00 PM IST

Type of Event: This is an in-person event, happening at Bengaluru International Centre (BIC).

Striving for freedom in the digital age, Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF)'s goal is to ensure that Indian citizens can use the Internet with liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. They’re working towards this by community building, campaigning, channeling advocacy into institutional outcomes, and putting efforts into bridging gaps in digital rights organisations, larger civil liberties groups and online collectives and movements.

Description: To mark the fifth year of the Puttaswamy Judgement, join IFF in reflecting on growing public cynicism which is matched by the increasing use of technology. First, by stepping beyond the frameworks of the courts and legislatures, hoping to engage technologists in a panel conversation on how specific technology choices as system designers and companies can help promote user privacy. This will be followed by a discussion on the social and political reality of India in which our rights are preached, but not practised. The objective of the discussion is to move beyond the binary of a digital dystopian, or a utopian society. To confront challenges to our shared future, through more thought, courage and for some, even enthusiasm.
